God and modern medicine

Image
Gospel According to John 4.49-54. "The official said to him, "Sir,come down before my little boy dies."Jesus said to him,"Go your son will live ."The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way.As he was going down , his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive. So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, "Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him ."The father realized that it was the hour when Jesus had said to him," Your son will live".So he himself believed, along with his whole household. Now this was the second sign that Jesu did after coming from Judea to Galilee." Jesus perfectly curing and giving back the life of a boy of an official is significant in that it reveals the effect of mediation. Here the father, the official, is asking for cure and life of the boy.The boy is not at all in the picture. Because of his faith in God the father comes down in searc...

Believing

Image
Gospel According to John 4.46-48. Jesus heals an Official's Son Then he came again to Cana in Galilee where he had changed the water into wine. Now there was a royal official's son lay ill in Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee,he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him "unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe". Continuing with our earlier deliberations, believing in God is really difficult.Because it demands many things from us, we may have to forgo precious and dear people and objects. Not necessarily.Believing in God is really a challenge. In fact I would say the greatest challenge, a man has to face in his life.It defies reason and it negates plain and visible things. Our belief is solely based on our inner movements and convictions. We may be instructed to believe in God but the catechism or the preaching of priests can only influence us in a particular way....

The travelling Jesus

Image
Gospel According to John 1.43-45 When the two days were over, he went from that place to Galilee(for Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honour in the prophet's own country). When he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the festival;for they too had gone to the festival. Here we find Jesus moving from place to place to preach the plan of Salvation. In fact we see in the Gospels that Jesus loved to travel a lot.He was never fixated to a place. He wanted to be a wanderer for God and for the people over whom he had developed compassion because they were in total darkness. The travelling Jesus had only one Mission in life and that was to reveal the Father in heaven, the Father in our deepest hearts bestowed on us in birth and baptism. He exhorted people to understand this plan of salvation. Our mind is limited and finite and it is very vulnerable to death.Today or tomorrow we will get decayed by God's Own creat...

Encountering Jesus

Gospel According to John 4.39-42 Many Samaritans from that city believed in him because of the woman's testimony,"He told me everything I have ever done."So when the Samaritans came to him , they asked him to stay with them;and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves , and we know that this is truly the Saviour of the world." There are two ways by which we can believe in something, one is that we accept what others say and second is that we ourselves have to directly encounter something to believe. What is this believing actually?Believing is an act of the mind or will that something is there or that something exists out here/ out there. So it is primarily giving assent to something that is not usual and the mind requires tremendous effort and resources for such a state.Because we agree to go by that even when when it is ...

Harvesting the Souls:The Meaning of Our Acts

Gospel According to John 4.35-38. "Do you not say ,'Four months more, then comes the harvest'?But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting. The reaper is already receiving the wages and is gathering fruits for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper may rejoice together .For here saying holds true ,'One sows and another reaps.'I sent you to reap that for which you did not labour.Others have laboured and you have entered into their labour." Jesus is obviously referring to the preparedness that we need to have to enter into the Kingdom of God.Multitudes of people walk around the earth, they eat, drink and do lots of work. Are we aware of the fact that our life is not just to maintain the body and carry on with the daily chores. There is a deeper purpose behind all these mundane activities. A scientist works say, 18 hours in the laboratory, a factory worker works 8 hours, a housemaid may work 12 hours , so many devote a subst...

The food from Heaven

Image
Gospel According to John. 4.31-34. Meanwhile the disciples were urging him,"Rabbi, eat something."But he said to them,"I have food to eat that you do not know about." So the disciples said to one another,"Surely no one has brought him something to eat?"Jesus said to them "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and complete his work." We take food to maintain our body in good condition. The wheat, the rice or its products that we eat provide source of energy to our body to keep all the systems functioning well, our nervous system, circulatory system, muscular system and other systems. So we keep going uninterrupted. And we do not die.But if we do not eat what will happen, our body will not have the nutrients to function and it will stop functioning sooner rather than later, which means death due to the absence of food. But God has provided us with enough food to eat.But that is not the case with millions of people across Africa, Asia and other c...

First Knowledge of God

Gospel According to John 4.27-30. Just then his disciples came. They were astonished that he was speaking with a woman, but no one said,"What do you want?"Or "Why are you speaking with her?".Then the woman left her water jar and went back to the city. She said to the people,"Come and see a man who told me everything I have ever done!He cannot be the Messiah, can he?They left the city and were on their way to him." How do we know Jesus? Who has told me about Jesus? What is my source of information about Jesus? How did I come across Jesus? There are different ways by which we have come to know Jesus. Our childhood education, the prayers said at home, the neighbours going to churches or our parents going to churches and some books, all these could be the source of information about Jesus. But there is a hidden source of Jesus, that is through baptism we are exposed to the blessings of God, we are made children of God.From that moment onwards God guides us in his wa...

"Seeing" Jesus

Image
Gospel According to John 4.25-26 The woman said to him,"I know that Messiah is coming"(who is called Christ). When he comes, he will proclaim all things to us".Jesus said to her. "I am he, the one who is speaking to you." Do we recognise Jesus in our lives?Of course Jesus [never] appears directly to us after his Ascension to Heaven. We seldom come across Jesus the Son of God in person these days. He remains completely hidden from us.Do we hear his sound or Does he speak to us in person? That is also very unlikely. Then how do we recognise Jesus in our lives. In the Imagining form of prayer it is suggested that you imagine Jesus as speaking to you, just as He was speaking to the Samaritan woman. In this imagination also our own preconceived notions and previously acquired impressions play a significant part. Thus our attempt to "see" Jesus in our mind may also may be failing.Do we require an image of Jesus.Yes we require. We can of course turn to the images p...

True Worship of God

Gospel According to John 4.22-25 "You worship what you do not know;we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.God is spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth". How do we worship God?Many of us do not worship in truth and spirit. We worship God in many ignorant ways that may not be true worship of God.For true worship first of all consists in an interior change of heart , the heart is to tend towards God, the heart is to long for God, the heart which is like a soft petal of rose or pure white feather, free from all impurities and sins. That is the first step of worship.Secondly our deep conviction that we are worshipping the True God.If we do not have this deep conviction our worship will become mechanic devoid of any meaningful relationship with the Living God.We are to establish ...

The House of Worship

Image
Gospel According to John 4.20-22 "Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem". Jesus said to her,"Woman believe me, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem." Here we find Jesus teaching us the way of true worship. One of the practices followed from time immemorial is that we choose a place to worship God.We construct a beautiful building with lots of architecture and decorations and dedicate it to God.And we keep the place sacred and sanctified. It is never used for any other purpose. The place is called the house of God.Similarly the woman is telling Jesus that her ancestors were worshipping on the mountain. That is true.Mountain is a rising place where the presence of God can be felt immediately and it is easy to raise our heart and head to God.Jesus does not contradict this. And He speaks of a loftier place in Jerusalem specially constructed to wor...

Jesus Sees us

Gospel According to John 4.16-19. "Jesus said to her."Go call your husband, and come back."The woman answered him,"I have no husband."Jesus said to her."You are right in saying,'I have no husband ';for you have had five husbands, and the one that you have now is not your husband .What you have said is true!"The woman said to him, "Sir I see that you are a prophet." Here we find Jesus piercing into our hearts and revealing all that is hidden and concealed from others.Jesus knew that the woman's life history in full.He has that divine intelligence to fathom the heart of man and woman.Such understanding is not possible in the ordinary intelligence.Jesus the Son of God our Lord and God knows all the goings in our heart. He knows our life, its ups and falls, wrongs and rights, valleys and mountains, sins and virtues. In fact each breath that we take does not go unnoticed by God.See the millions and millions of People in the world and J...

The Water that Jesu Give

Gospel According to John 4.11-15 The woman said to him .'Sir you have no bucket and the well is deep.Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?"Jesu said to her."Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life".The woman said to him," Sir give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water." Here we find Jesu referring to the insufficiency that is built in to the very material things that we use daily in our life.No one can live without hunger or thirst. Our body always crave for food and water. Our body is never satisfied with the food that we eat or the water that we drink. This is the law of the body or rather the law o...

Jesus and the Samaritan Woman

Gospel According to John 4.10 Jesus answered her."If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you,'Give me a drink' you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." We give gifts to our friends and relatives on many occasions like birthday, marriage, success and achievements. It is a token of our expression of acknowledgment, love or appreciation. And the value of the gift tends to vanish fast.Articles of long-term value, however remain throughout our life.We keep it for long time. However the gift that God gives us is everlasting. The very character of God is Eternity. So whatever comes from God has always the touch of Eternity. The gift of God makes us immortal and it does not drag us in earthly matters. The important thing is that we should be prepared to accept the Gift that God gives us.Here we find Jesus talking about living water, water that makes us live not only in this world but in the next world. The living water, of course, me...

Race of Samaritan womn

Image
Gospel According to John 4.7-9 "A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her."Give me a drink".(His disciples had gone to buy food). The Samaritan woman said to him,"How is that you, a Jew,ask a drink of me,a woman of Samaria?"(Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.)" The conversation centers on social discrimination that we practice in our life.Discriminations of all forms exist, economic, social or political. Here we find an instance in which the parties refer to the actula social discrimination being practiced. The Jews and Samaritans do not share anything in between because of historical and other reasons. Some cultural events or practices that occurred in the past had alienated the communities and it was carried forward.Such discriminations we find everywhere. But it is totally unacceptable in the eyes of God.The weak human eye tends to see "some others"as untoucables. It is a clear case of sin.All the people are brothe...

Jesus Walks to Galilee

Image
Gospel According to John 4.1-6. "Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard, "Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John -although it was not Jesus himself but his disciples who baptized- he left Judea and stared back to Galilee. But he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph,Jacob's well was there and Jesus , tired out by his journey , was sitting by the well.It was about noon." Here we find Jesus in the nature of a weak human being, who is doubtful and weak hearted as to his mission and will.He is easily moved by the adverse criticism of others. On the criticism of Pharisees Jesus decided to quit Judea and decided to go to Galilee. Can we find fault with Jesu?No we cannot because sometimes we have to accept the criticism of others and change our actions.Again Jesu does not come across the critics he cleverly avoids a confrontation with them. We find Jes...

God from Above

Image
Gospel According to John 3.31-36. "The one who comes come from above is above all;the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all.He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony.Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true.He whom God has sent speaks the words of God,for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands .Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;whoever disobeys the Son will not see life ,but must endure God's wrath. Here we find a differentiation of earthly and heavenly matters. The two can be made separate or not is a question.Generally the Semitic religions like Christianity or Islam looks up above the earth to see God.This tendency is there very much in the tradition of religions evolved in that context. This is true very much in Old Testament .Jesus however urged people to l...

The Least and the Highest

Image
Gospel According to St.John 3.29-30 "He who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. For this reason my joy has been fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease." In a simplistic manner, I may say that he who has the blessings of God is the fortunate human being or he who is close to God is the true human being. We must be close to God in order to be really alive. The important and the most agonising message that the Baptist has communicated refers to self-denial.Here we find John denying everything, his possessions, achievements, fame, spiritual power and his own life for the One Who is ahead of him.Jesus the true God and the Son of Man came to save the world and the human beings. The mission of Jesus was clear to all Israelites and more particularly it was understood by John through divine inspiration. It is the characteristic nature of John, that is the tendency to deny his own...

John the Baptist and Jesus

Image
Gospel According to John. 3.25-28. "Now a discussion about purification arose between John's disciples and a Jew.They came to John and said to him."Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing and all are going to him."John answered," No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven. You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, 'I am not the Messiah ,but I have been sent ahead of him.' Purification! What does it mean? We say God is the perfect being without any impurity. The sense of purity was very much present in the early life of man.Purity can be easily identified in all our activities. Our hands may be impure, dirt and dust accumulate. Our head may be impure, dandruff and lices spread on the scalp , our clothes may be impure and our place of living may be impure. So our senses easily sense the presence of impurity in life. But the impurity that affects the mind is the most significant and...

Jesus and the Baptist

Image
Gospel According to John 3.22-24 "After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judea country side and he spent some time there with them and baptized.John was also baptzing at Aenon near Salim because water was abundant there;and people kept coming and were being baptized. John, of course, had not yet been thrown into prison." One may wonder what is the significance of baptzing.God has created man in his image and he belongs to him. He is his creation.Baptizm is a way of purification of our activities, we have accumulated lots and lots of impurities in our mind.Baptizing with water purifies our mind.Of course it is a symbolic act in that pouring an amount of water on our head or body does no more than wetting the surface. The meaning of this symbolism is that our mind is being washed or purified by the power of the Spirit. The Spirit of the God descends and dwells on us when we accept God in our life.Once the impurities are cleared, washed away, God chooses the body to...

The Words of Eternal Wisdom

Image
Gospel According to John 3.17-21. " Indeed God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.Those who believe in Him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.And this is the judgement, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God." Here God offers us the choice between light and darkness and between godly and ungodly and between redemption and damnation.God loves the world and the created beings so much that the Son was sent to this world, to save the men and women from sin. When we say Son of God, the idea of procreation may come...

Love Of God

Gospel According to John 3.16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life." There is nothing practical or concrete about this Word of Jesus. He asks us to believe that God sent His only Son to the world so that the people may be saved.Jesus was not simply a historical figure who lived , did good things and disappeared.Indeed He was the Son Of God, The Word Incarnate, destined from the creation to appear in the world as the God and Man.His purpose was to lead all the people to God.Think of our life.God has given us life.He has created this world. The life of a person is ,say, a maximum of 90 years, after which he is to depart this world, taking nothing with him, he leaves alone. And he leaves this world to darkness or light.Jesus was the God Incarnate to tell us that our life should not end in darkness, instead it should lead to light. We as the children of God are loved by God so much that w...

Jesu and Niccodemus

Gospel According to John 1.10-15 "Very truly I tell you we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our testimony. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?.No one has ascended to heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life." Here we find Jesus referring to a simple fact of our daily life that if you refuse to believe something even in the face of straight evidences and testimony, the task or the activity itself is worthless.Because you choose to be non-believing.The basic trust if we are missing in earthly matters we may also start doubting the heavenly matters. The development of faith in oneself and others , according to psychological theories is a product of our upbringing.A child who is well tre...

Jesu and Niccodemus

Gospel According to St.John 3.8-10 "The wind blows where it chooses and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit".Niccu said to him,"How can these things be?"Jesus answered him " Are you a teacher of Israel , and yet you do not understand these things?". Here we find Jesus reflecting on an age old truth. That is the mind of a pure man, so to say an elevated or enlightened or Nirvanic or blissful or realised mind never gets attached to worldly things. It is always in a state of contemplation and it never runs after the illusory experiences of the world. The pleasures of the world is already understood to be transitory and it never gives ultimate satisfaction to man.The enlightened mind is always mindful of things and it comprehends things but without any inordinate attachment. When Jesus says the wind blows where it chooses he refers to the fact that will is to be exerc...

Jesus and Niccodemus

Gospel According to John 3.3-7. "Jesus answered him ," Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above." Nicodemus said to him ." how can anyone be born after having grown old?Can one enter a second time into mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered," Very truly I tell you no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.Do not be astonished that I said to you,' You must be born from above.' Here we find Jesus exhorting Niccu to be refreshed in God and the Son of Man.Refreshed means one has to shed away all the misdeeds from the past all the wrong thinking and emotion.Just a tree sheds its leaves that have grown old and which cause problem to the trunk, we too must get over our old leanings and unhealthy practices. We have two options, one is that we can continue to live in the old bad way and the seco...

Niccodemus visits Jesus

Gospel According to St.John 3.1-2. Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews.He came to see Jesus by night and said to him."Rabbi we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God." Here we find a man full of wisdom and wealth of the world coming to Jesus who was a prophet, Messiah,a charismatic personality and with many other mysterious aspects, according to Jews.Nicodemus however was a dissatisfied person. His knowledge or wealth could not make him happy. He was in search of the Ultimate Truth. He was afraid to meet Jesus in public because of his stature and level in the society.Still he had understood the mystery behind Jesus and so he came to meet him.Th point is that he wanted to learn from a Master who could provide the answer to his problems of dissatisfaction and misery. His learnings did not yield any fruits.Jesus was emerging as a star in those times by performing miracles ...

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

Gospel According to John 1.13-25. "The passover of the Jews was near and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves and the money changers seated at their tables.Making a whip of cords,he drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle. He also poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves," take these things out of here!Stop making my Father's house a market place!"His disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for your house will consume me".The Jews said to him,"What sign can you show us for doing these things?'Jesus answered them" Destroy these temple and in three days I will raise it up "The Jews then said,"This temple has been under construction for forty-six years and will you raise it up in three years?"But he was speaking of the temple of his body. After he was raised from the dead, his discipl...

The Wedding at Cana

Gospel According to John 2.1-12. On the third day thre was a wedding in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there.Jesus and the disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine gave out , the mother of Jesus said to him,"They have no wine"And Jesus said to her " Woman what concern is that to youand to me?My hour has not yet come".His mother said to the servants."Do whatever he tells you".Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification.Jesus told them "Fill the jars with water".And they filled them up to the brim.He said to them"Now draw some out and take it to the chief steward."So they took it.When the steward tasted the water that had become wine and did not know where it came from, the steward called the bridegroom and said to him," Everyone serves the good wine first and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now....

The triviality of life instances and the call of God

Gospel According to John 1.43-51 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him "Follow me"..... When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said to him,"Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!"Nathaniel asked him."Where did you get to know me?"Jesus answered,"I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you." Nathaniel replied,"Rabbi, you are the Son of God!You are the King of Israel!"Jesus answered,"Do you believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree ?You will see greater things than these."And he said to them,Very truly,I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man". Here we find Jesus extending unconditional invitation to join with him as members of his Kingdom. The deserving men are identified by their honesty and simple character. The simple instances of life are used by Jesus in divine ways to i...

The First Disciples of Jesus

Gospel According to John 1.35-42 The next day John again was standing with two of his disciples and as he watched Jesus walk by , he exclaimed." Look here is the lamb of God!"The two disciples heard this and they followed Jesus. When Jesus turned and saw them following , he said to them" What are you looking for?"They said to him"Rabbi where are you staying?'He said to them "come and See'.They came and saw where he was staying and they remained with him that day...... Andrew found his brother Simon and said to him" we have found the Messiah" He brought Simon to Jesus who looked at him and said "You are Simon son of John .You are to be called Peter". Here we find Jesus calling and forming his disciples. The important point is that they are all simple men who have no evil in mind. They are hard working people not knowledgeable in the eyes of the world. It is the greatest gift that a human being can get in this life, that God direc...
Image
Gospel According to John 1.29-34 The Lamb of God "The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared,"Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said,'After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me .'I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel."And John testified ," I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and it remained on him .I myself did not know him but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit'.And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God." Here we find John the Baptist testifying Jesus as the True Son of God.Jesus was incomparable in this world and he was without a second.John baptized with water an earthly symbol that led people to God in an act of cleansing.Jesus ba...

The testimony of John the Baptist

1.19-28."This is the testimony given by John......What do you say about yourself?", He said," I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness,Make straight the way of the Lord,"......I baptize with water.Among you stands one whom you do not know , the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal."This took place in Bethany across the Jordan where John was Baptizing. Here we find John acknowledging the fact that he is not being heard by the people. In fact he was a strong and the greatest prophet God sent to the world to make the people realise that God dwells with us in our very innermost being , intimate with us.But his voice, the Voice representing God was unheard , it was heard in the wilderness, practically no one listened to him.He sensitised people to the coming of the Lord, made them realise that God is visiting his own people. He was making the way for Jesus Christ , the Word Incarnate, the Saviour of the people who were...

The Word Became Flesh

Gospel According to John,1.14-18 "And the word became flesh and lived among us and we have seen his glory , the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth. From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God.It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's Heart who has made him known." Here we find the answer to those ask about the existence of God.No one has ever seen God.And God is never visible to human eye.Because we are human beings.Jesus Christ the Only Son of God revealed the existence of Father, The Most Loving Father on earth and Heaven.Jesus was always with the father and he was so close to him that he knew his will. The existence of God can be proved by logical argument.More than that the existence of God is known through our heart, our state of mind.It is intuitively known, experientially known. Those who deny this faculty will neve...

The Word became flesh

Gospel According to St.John 1.10-13. "He was in the world and the world came into being through him yet the world did not know him.He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him.But to all who received him, who believed in his name he gave power to become children of GOD , Who were born, not of blood or of the will of flesh or of the will of man , but of God." Here we find two categories of people, one category does not believe God and another category of people does accept him and they become the children of God.Children of God are not of this world, they are not guided by the material desires and the search for luxury. They are all moved by the will of God and that is to know God and be united with him. However in this world we cannot have perfect union with God, so suffering is part of life.God remains with us and he dwells in us putting us in peace and tranquility.

Word Became Flesh

Gospel According to John 1.6-9 "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.He himself was not the light but he came to testify to the light. The true light which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world." St.John owns up the responsibility of showing to the world the true Light, that is JESUS CHRIST. Upon receiving Jesus and agreeing to follow his teachings in direct and indirect ways,a man becomes the part of this True Light. No darkness in the form of sin can ruin him.And those who agree to follow him will never waste his life in this world. No specific christening is required to follow Jesus. Any one willing to respect and abide by his teachings can be part of This Eternal Truth.

The Word Became Flesh

Image
The Gospel According to John 1,1-5. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God.All things came into being through him and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it."This is the Word of the Lord. Here we find St.John explaining the background to the Incarnation of Jesus. The Son of God always existed in the World and the world was never without Him and He was always in the world. The world was created through him and in him.The life that he brought was also followed by Evil. The darkness also rules the world but the Evil can never overtake the Light.God created his people for him and for his Glory.
