Gospel According to John


4.49-54.


"The official said to him, "Sir,come down before my little boy dies."Jesus said to him,"Go your son will live ."The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way.As he was going down , his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive.So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, "Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him ."The father realized that it was the hour when Jesus had said to him," Your son will live".So he himself believed, along with his whole household.Now this was the second sign that Jesu did after coming from Judea to Galilee."


Jesus perfectly curing and giving back the life of a boy of an official is significant in that it reveals the effect of mediation.Here the father, the official, is asking for cure and life of the boy.The boy is not at all in the picture. Because of his faith in God the father comes down in search of Jesus and requests the divine help of Jesus.More than the curing made possible by Jesus what is significant here is the way it is attained.The official of the establishment had that deep conviction in Jesu that he left everything behind, his duties work and responsibilities and sought Jesu which shows the solid faith in Jesus.These days we find people of somewhat better status having no faith in God because they do not need to have.Otherwise also their life will pass in the expected way.But what they forget is that even then there are people across the world praying to God asking for his Mercy and Forgiveness.Just as the little boy was not aware of the fact that his father was mediating for him.So it is this humbleness and the feeling that we are nobody that should turn us to God.Or our own worthlessness and insignificance should turn us to God.When modern medicine fails us if we turn to God , if we seek Jesu with that same humbleness and the with that feeling of egolessness, God will not abandon us!See how wonderful life is!

Overcoming Casual tendencies

Gospel According to John 5.2-5 "Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Bethzaitha,which has five porticoes.In these lay many invalids-blind,lame and paralyzed.One man was there who was ill for thirty eight years." Here we find a man who has been ill and suffering for so many years.What could be the reason for this?A man suffering alone and uncared by none for so may years!It is really surprising for a man who leads a fast and hectic life.There are two ways to see this incident.One is that we conveniently and negligently ignore our own state.To say the least we are pathetically casual and lazy in certain crucial matters of our life.We just don't care and we pull on.This is a major fault that we are committing in the eyes of God.Some do not care about their health, some about their education, some about their near and dear ones and some about God and church services.This callous way of doing things make us a pathetic human being.We have to find...

Jesus Heals

Gospel According to John 5.6-7 "When Jesu saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him , "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered him ," Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way , some one else steps down ahead of me."
