God from Above



Gospel According to John

3.31-36.

"The one who comes come from above is above all;the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things.The one who comes from heaven is above all.He testifies to what he has seen and heard,yet no one accepts his testimony.Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true.He whom God has sent speaks the words of God,for he gives the Spirit without measure.The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands .Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;whoever disobeys the Son will not see life ,but must endure God's wrath.


Here we find a differentiation of earthly and heavenly matters.The two can be made separate or not is a question.Generally the Semitic religions like Christianity or Islam looks up above the earth to see God.This tendency is there very much in the tradition of religions evolved in that context.This is true very much in Old Testament.Jesus however urged people to look within their hearts to see God. And he has many times told his followers that Kingdom of God is within oneself.God is within us and God is without.The divinity is implanted in us as the created being of God.But this divinity can be thrown away by the disobedience of man, that is when man does not acknowledge God in the innermost being and God as the supreme Being.

Overcoming Casual tendencies

Gospel According to John 5.2-5 "Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Bethzaitha,which has five porticoes.In these lay many invalids-blind,lame and paralyzed.One man was there who was ill for thirty eight years." Here we find a man who has been ill and suffering for so many years.What could be the reason for this?A man suffering alone and uncared by none for so may years!It is really surprising for a man who leads a fast and hectic life.There are two ways to see this incident.One is that we conveniently and negligently ignore our own state.To say the least we are pathetically casual and lazy in certain crucial matters of our life.We just don't care and we pull on.This is a major fault that we are committing in the eyes of God.Some do not care about their health, some about their education, some about their near and dear ones and some about God and church services.This callous way of doing things make us a pathetic human being.We have to find...

Jesus Heals

Gospel According to John 5.6-7 "When Jesu saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him , "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered him ," Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way , some one else steps down ahead of me."
