Gospel According to John


3.17-21.


" Indeed God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world,but in order that the world might be saved through Him.Those who believe in Him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.And this is the judgement, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed.But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God."


Here God offers us the choice between light and darkness and between godly and ungodly and between redemption and damnation.God loves the world and the created beings so much that the Son was sent to this world, to save the men and women from sin.When we say Son of God, the idea of procreation may come to our mind.It is to be believed that God does not procreate.He only Creates.Procreation and reproduction are for human beings in God.The idea of Son Of God is of course not in the literal sense.To human understanding Jesus is the Son of God, or Jesus is the Incarnation of God.Incarnation and Son of God are, however two things.What is implied here is that Jesus is God and since he took human form we say he is the Son of God.We can also say that Jesus just like the human idea of reproduction, took birth in Mary by the Inspiration of God.So Jesus came to the world to redeem the sinful men and women.God had planned in the beginning that since we ourselves could not attain salvation , there was the necessity of a Help.And he promised to the early Israelites that he would send the Messiah to save us from the pain and suffering of the world and finally to eternal life.Jesus did offer the olive branch of salvation.But it was not according to the human plan.In our selfishness and humanness we some of us disliked Jesus, some did not believe in Jesus.They crucified Jesus.Even today those who do not like Jesus, crucify him point blank.The way of the cross is difficult, Jesus did not show that the path to salvation is a bed of roses.It is a bed of thorns.But those who persevere in this, finally attain salvation.It is not that God does not want us to sleep on a bed of roses.But the way of the world is such that, evil exists in the world.God himself allowed evil to exist with the Good.But the evil has only limited power.And in this exercise of power, we can be easily distanced from God.And in order to be near to God, we are to raise our heart and mind to God.

Overcoming Casual tendencies

Gospel According to John 5.2-5 "Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Bethzaitha,which has five porticoes.In these lay many invalids-blind,lame and paralyzed.One man was there who was ill for thirty eight years." Here we find a man who has been ill and suffering for so many years.What could be the reason for this?A man suffering alone and uncared by none for so may years!It is really surprising for a man who leads a fast and hectic life.There are two ways to see this incident.One is that we conveniently and negligently ignore our own state.To say the least we are pathetically casual and lazy in certain crucial matters of our life.We just don't care and we pull on.This is a major fault that we are committing in the eyes of God.Some do not care about their health, some about their education, some about their near and dear ones and some about God and church services.This callous way of doing things make us a pathetic human being.We have to find...

Jesus Heals

Gospel According to John 5.6-7 "When Jesu saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him , "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered him ," Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way , some one else steps down ahead of me." This is a very interesting incident highly reflective of our daily life of struggles and survivals.We have always someone to compete with to survive in this world or to win or to achieve glory.In this irrational, so to say, competition some are obviously left behind and some walks up to the platform of victory.The important point is that we have to compete with another to achieve glory and the glory solely rests with defeating another who is our own brother.Competing with another is not bad to decide upon the will of God; God has granted some with more abilities and merits and some with less abilities so that we choose we different v...
