The testimony of John the Baptist

1.19-28."This is the testimony given by John......What do you say about yourself?", He said," I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness,Make straight the way of the Lord,"......I baptize with water.Among you stands one whom you do not know , the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal."This took place in Bethany across the Jordan where John was Baptizing.

Here we find John acknowledging the fact that he is not being heard by the people.In fact he was a strong and the greatest prophet God sent to the world to make the people realise that God dwells with us in our very innermost being , intimate with us.But his voice, the Voice representing God was unheard , it was heard in the wilderness, practically no one listened to him.He sensitised people to the coming of the Lord, made them realise that God is visiting his own people.He was making the way for Jesus Christ , the Word Incarnate, the Saviour of the people who were- are- blind to the truth about God, That God is with us.John symbolises the Humility and simplicity that is missing in today's world.

Overcoming Casual tendencies

Gospel According to John 5.2-5 "Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Bethzaitha,which has five porticoes.In these lay many invalids-blind,lame and paralyzed.One man was there who was ill for thirty eight years." Here we find a man who has been ill and suffering for so many years.What could be the reason for this?A man suffering alone and uncared by none for so may years!It is really surprising for a man who leads a fast and hectic life.There are two ways to see this incident.One is that we conveniently and negligently ignore our own state.To say the least we are pathetically casual and lazy in certain crucial matters of our life.We just don't care and we pull on.This is a major fault that we are committing in the eyes of God.Some do not care about their health, some about their education, some about their near and dear ones and some about God and church services.This callous way of doing things make us a pathetic human being.We have to find...

Jesus Heals

Gospel According to John 5.6-7 "When Jesu saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him , "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered him ," Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way , some one else steps down ahead of me."
