Gospel According to St. John.5:31-34. "If I testify about myself, my tesimony is not true.There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that his testimony to me is true.You sent messengers to John and he testifis to the truth. Not that I accept such human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. Jesus the Son of God, the Divine needs no testimony as He has full knowledge of the beginning, the current and the end of the world. Jesus is God Himself. But he believes the testimony so that it becomes an example for us. Those who lived at the time of Jesus were witnesses to Him. But many were unfortunate and perished by not believinh in Him. The faith that we need to have is based upon the indirect testiomony to Jesus. Again many are unfortunate here because faith is something that we do not get in the market culture.Faith is a gift from God contingent upon our desire and longingness. If we pray to God or shows the willingness God generously grants the Gift ...

Gospel According to St.John.5:35 "He was a burning and shining lamp an d you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light". In this teaching Jesus is pointing to the human folly, the frivolous and the vascillating nature.We become Christians, that is the new converts or we listen to a homily or read the Bibile and we become enthusiastic about it. We immediately sign up. After a while we knowwingly or unknowingly forget all that we heard, read or accepted.We quickly compromise the divine in the face of the undivine and start a wrong life.The fickleminded nature of human being right from Adam is playing havoc with our spiritual life.

Gospel According to St.John 5:39-40 "You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life:and it is they that testify on my behalf. Yet you refuse to come to me to have life." We search and read the scriptures to find the meaning of life.Of course the Bible provides us with the meaning of life. But Jesus was speaking or referring to the Thoras, which according to him is to be reinterpreted in the light of his teachings.And now we have the New Testament the teachings of Jesus that guide us in our lives.The meaning of life is written there.We have to read it and find the treasures of life and eternity.

Gospel According to St.John.5:36-38. "But I have a testimony greater than John's. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing , testify on my behalf that the father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard his voice or seen his form and you do not have his word abiding in you , because you do not believe him whom he has sent". Jesus unequivocally identifies with the Father in Heaven and on Earth which means that Jesus and the Father are One.The Son of God and the Son of Man are the same in Jesus Christ.Because Jesus embodied and embodies all that is God.Our Father is not an immutable and unmoving Father but One who cares for each one of us continuously and unceasingly.But alas, we the mortals and the sinful do not easily give in to Him. Instead we hurry up to things and objects which are of the world.
